Carousel Costumes – Rental & Conditions

Effective Date: The date on which the Renter agrees to these Terms and Conditions, either by completing an online booking (click-to-accept) or by confirming in person at pickup.

1. Agreement to Terms

By completing a booking, paying for a rental, or taking possession of a costume from Carousel Costumes, you (the “Renter”) acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions. If renting on behalf of a child under 18, the parent or legal guardian making the booking is considered the “Renter” and accepts full responsibility for compliance with these Terms.

2. Eligibility

Renter must:

  • Be at least 18 years old (parent or legal guardian renting on behalf of a minor)

  • Be a resident of Ontario, Canada (we do not rent or ship outside Ontario or Canada)

  • Present valid government-issued ID at pickup

3. Rental Period & Fees

  • Rental term 8 days (selected at booking).

  • Additional days are charged at 10% of the rental fee per day.

4. Payment & Cancellations

  • Full payment is required at the time of booking.

  • No refunds or exchanges between Oct 1 – Nov 3.

  • Except in the period between Oct 1 – Nov 3, cancellations 72 hours or more before pickup receive a 70% refund (30% non-refundable).

  • Cancellations within 72 hours of pickup: no refund.

  • Once picked up, rentals are final unless an issue is reported within 24 hours.

5. Return Requirements

Renter agrees to:

  • Return all costume pieces, hangers, and garment bags provided.

  • Return costumes in the same condition as received.

  • Not launder or dry clean costumes (Carousel Costumes will handle cleaning).

  • Costumes returned heavily soiled will be charged a $25 cleaning fee per item.

6. Heavy Odour Policy

All costumes must be returned in a clean and wearable condition. To ensure a pleasant experience for all customers, items with heavy or lingering odours will be subject to a $25 odour removal fee per item.

Examples of odours that may result in this fee include:

  • Food or drink spills (e.g., ketchup, chocolate milk)

  • Bodily fluids (e.g., urine, vomit)

  • Smoke, marijuana, or other strong substances

  • Strong perfumes or fragrances

  • Excessive sweat or mildew

7. Damage, Loss & Replacement Costs

  • Costumes remain the property of Carousel Costumes.

  • Major damage or missing pieces will result in the Renter being charged the full replacement cost of the costume or item.

  • Non-returns are treated as theft, and full replacement value will be charged.

8. Alterations

  • Only temporary hem tape may be used.

  • No cutting, sewing, fabric glue, or permanent changes.

  • Unauthorized alterations will result in repair charges at $50/hour.

9. Late Returns

  • Late returns incur a 10% late fee per day, per costume, based on the rental fee.

  • Late fees are non-negotiable.

10. Confirmation of Agreement

In-person rentals:
At pickup, staff will verbally confirm you have read and agree to the Rental Terms & Conditions. By taking possession of the costume(s), you agree to be bound by these terms.

Online rentals:
Before checkout, you must check a box stating:
“I have read and agree to Carousel Costumes’ Rental Terms and Conditions.”
This confirmation is recorded and forms a binding agreement.
